Can I just take a moment to say: Who threatens to kick their child out of the house on Christmas Eve?
And people wonder why I hate Christmas with my family. |

Trains in Madrid
Steamless, it is no longer the cumulus-
there is no rain here, just the curved
parallelism of steel. This is direction,
not the weather vanes of gears.
These seats are paved in faux
satin and the woman beside me
slides in sleep. There is nothing
to catch her but my bare shoulders.
Silence is something forgotten while
the green peppered landscape of summer
is stretched out of this forward moving metal.

P.S. Emily, I'll try and e-mail you sometime this week. LJ posts actually take me way less time to do because I don't really care what they say, whereas I put a lot of time and thought into your e-mails. Quality, not quantity. ; ) |

Does anyone know where NYX is carried in Victoria?
Charlotte bought some a few months ago from "the London Drugs downtown". But they're not there. I'm guessing all the stores either hate me, or Charlotte wants all the NYX for herself ;-).
I figure we must have it in Victoria because the Canadian distributor is based in Burnaby. Yep, I found that out, but not where it's carried. Cool.

Hey Guys,
London is cool. At the awards ceremony today I met a poet named UA Fanthorpe who gave me her address so I could send her poems that "Other people think are rubbish, but you just think they're rubbish". She was neat. And lesbian! Her partner, Dr. Rosie Bailey, also a poet came to the ceremony dressed in a cream pinstripe suit. Way cool. I hate to be a total spoiled bitch but I miss home. And Andrew. And totally wish I was in Montreal with him. Or that he was here with me instead of my dad. Andrew doesn't snore, which equals sleep. (or not, but definately more enjoyable things than staring at the ceiling cursing my dad) I'm allergic to Buckingham Palace, and will never go back there again. I saw a really neat one woman play tonight! It was about a girl named Rachel Coolie who went to Palestine and got killed by a bulldozer while she was trying to protect a family home. I'm going to the Tate Modern tomorrow, and shopping, and Who's Afriad of Virginia Woolf. And then I'm coming home, so that all of you can poke Jetlag-Peggy doll on Monday. Okay. Cool. There are like, 67358 people waiting for his computer now. Bye. |

Longacre Estates
Grapes drop into your hands decieved, fingers - long, curling vines. So thin, lily stems weave between middle and ring unnoticed except crystal petals, those diamonds in your eyes.
Covered in black, my palms, gloved, hold little - four sheets, thirty lines, three syllables. "This could end." What could? I strive for clarity; only drink red wine.

Yay for plane rides. Here are two that I wrote thinking that they might turn into one big poem. They didn't really, but I grouped them together...
Two for Travelers
Over the Alps
Look, Austria under your
right wing, but these
hills seems quiet as any.
What is the fee for
your magic? Certainly
not these nights alone,
restless, I have heard nothing.
All I have found in you is a cold
white wind blowing sleep
in every direction but this one.
Suitcases in Tunnels
Four little girls in cases,
one of us soft,
left behind in an
insomniac’s steeplechase for
silence, just a moment of
quiet to collect snow
swift, falling in valleys.
She hopes Italy is
still a honeymoon, a
cobbled-street around this
moonshine corner, a satin
patch in denim.

I've been writing a lot due to lots of reading, lots of ferries, and lots of being left alone in my dad's apartment. And lack of pianos. Poems are usually a direct result of not being able to write songs. I'm posting three. Please read and tear apart as you wish. Especially the third one. There's something about it that I hate a lot right now. *cue Dylan*
Ways to Pay for Beauty
It was November. I traded eloquence for a shot of vodka disguised as warm breath on my neck. Quietly you led me away saying my laughter would wake the city, and kitchen lights at 1 a.m. would save us from suburban darkness. I loved you until we found ourselves in a dark room on a small bed. I stopped laughing when your weight took root. You told me I owed dues to Aphrodite. This was how I paid them.

I obviously had to do the Charlotte face in tribute. In the before picture I did practise elf makeup because it's impossible to get motivated to study for Earth Science. You know it's true.
